Staying motivated is the key. It’s easy to get excited about getting fit and to start off your fitness programme full of good intentions, but not so easy to keep that excitement and motivation going after a few weeks!
Three things make a real difference:
Set yourself realistic goals and when you reach them, celebrate!
It’s really important to give yourself a reward or some special treat to mark the achievement . Then get back to your programme, focussing on the next goal you want to achieve.
It’s really hard to keep yourself going on your own. Tell supportive friends, family and colleagues what you are aiming to achieve so they can give you the encouragement you will need at times, and can celebrate with you when you get there!
And steer clear of those negative types who will do their best to pour cold water on your hard work!
Finally, make sure that the programme you follow is one that you enjoy.
Ring the changes – don’t get stuck doing the same boring routine. Stretch yourself and adapt your programme as your fitness levels improve.
